On June 1, 2023, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office released the May blotter listing felony crimes occurring in unincorporated Dare County.

Three firearms are reported stolen from unlocked vehicles, two in Hatteras and one in Frisco.

Buxton and Roanoke Island each had three incidents reported. Avon and Colington had two reported and Waves and Wanchese had one each. In total, 15 crimes are reported.

May 4: Larceny of Motor Vehicle. 2000 block of Colington Rd., Colington. Rental vehicle reported stolen. Vehicle was recovered outside this jurisdiction. Charges have been filed against the suspect.

May 6: Larceny. 25000 block of NC 12, Waves. Electric golf cart stolen by unknown individual(s). Golf cart was located unoccupied and returned to owner.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 500 block of Baumtown Rd., Wanchese. Subject broke into a vacant house. Subject was apprehended inside the residence and arrested by deputies.

May 9: Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 48000 NC 12, Buxton. Building broken into with money stolen. Under investigation.

Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 56000 block of NC 12, Hatteras. Firearm reported missing from an unlocked vehicle. Under investigation.

May 10: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 50000 block of Blackbeards Court, Frisco. Firearm reported missing from an unlocked vehicle. Under investigation.

May 15: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 200 block Kitty Hawk Bay Dr., Colington. Money sent to a scammer as part of a Facebook scam. Under investigation.

May 16: Breaking and Entering. 40000 block of Westerly Lane, Avon. Vacant home found to have been broken into. Nothing reported stolen.

May 21: Armed Robbery. 100 block of Etheridge Rd., Roanoke Island. Home invasion where victim was assaulted and money and personal items were stolen. Under investigation.

Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 57000 block of Atlantic View Dr., Hatteras. Firearm reported missing from an unlocked vehicle. Under investigation.

May 24: Financial Credit Card Fraud. 40000 block of Avlona Dr., Avon. Several unauthorized transactions on subject’s financial card. Under investigation.

May 25: Larceny of Motor Vehicle Parts. Midway Intersection, Roanoke Island. Vehicle parts removed from a parked vehicle. Under investigation.

May 26: Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. 100 block of Meekins Dr., Roanoke Island. Victim was assaulted with a deadly weapon causing serious injury. Suspect was arrested by deputies.

May 30: Financial Credit Card Fraud. 47000 block of Lost Tree Trail, Buxton. Several unauthorized transactions on subject’s financial card. Under investigation.

May 31: Larceny of Dog. 47000 block of Rocky Rollinson Rd., Buxton. Victim reported someone removed the dog from its chain during the night. Under investigation.
