Coastal Hospitality Associates, LLC (“Coastal Hospitality”) announced on Friday, April 21, 2023 the completion of the multi-million-dollar renovation of the former Baymont by Wyndham Kitty Hawk. The hotel has been upgraded and converted to the Holiday Inn Express Kitty Hawk – Outer Banks.
The Holiday Inn Express Kitty Hawk – Outer Banks is owned and managed by Coastal Hospitality Associates, headquartered in Virginia Beach. “The extensive renovation upgrades the property to the sleek and modern Formula Blue 2.0 design specifications for the Holiday Inn Express brand,” stated a Coastal Hospitality Associates press release. “Holiday Inn Express, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, is one of the world’s largest and most recognizable brands with over 3000 properties worldwide.”
Features of the new design include an open, pod-style front desk area; comfortable and flexible seating in the lobby, including community tables with built-in wired and wireless charging; streamlined guestrooms with a kitchen area (including a refrigerator, microwave and a Keurig coffeemaker), multiple points of power and several storage options. “The Holiday Inn Express guest rooms provide a fresh, clean, and contemporary space with features that allow guests to be productive during their stay and have a great night’s sleep,” stated the release.
The newly-renovated hotel features a new “dining deck” with pergola and firepit, and offers complimentary breakfast with ample seating in the breakfast room and on the terrace. Other amenities include an outdoor pool with an adjacent pavilion featuring grills and seating, a fitness center, business center and complimentary golf cart transportation to and from the beach for guests who prefer not to walk.
“We are thrilled for this new addition to our portfolio of hotels, and we very much look forward to the repositioning of this hotel to the Holiday Inn Express brand. The Outer Banks market has shown tremendous growth over the past decade and has proven uniquely robust.” says Chris Brown, president of Coastal Hospitality.
Coastal Hospitality also owns and operates the 100-room Holiday Inn Express Nags Head Oceanfront, located only 10 miles south in Nags Head. Originally the Nags Head Inn, the hotel was purchased by Coastal Hospitality in late 2015 and underwent a similar conversion to the Holiday Inn Express brand.
Holiday Inn Express Kitty Hawk – Outer Banks is located at 3915 North Croatan Highway in Kitty Hawk. The 98-room hotel is situated on almost five acres of property and located just a short walk from the oceanfront. For more information, go to hiehittyhawk.com.
