Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
Shortened days, strong winds and blowing sand often chases many of us indoors. This week we had a cold snap. Homemade chicken soup and cornbread kept us warm. The pups wore their little coats when they went for their walk. It is just the season we are in right now. Before long we will be plating gardens, vegetation will come back to life after a winter’s nap and the first daffodils and crocus will emerge.
But what about today? We are taught to be in the day, lo live it, to not project and worry about tomorrow or dwell on the past. Rehearsing old problems causes us to live it over and over again. We allow the suffering to continue and that is not God’s plan for us. Neither is fretting about tomorrow or the future so much, that today is lost.
God wants us to live today in its fullest as much as we can with Him being front and center. Whatever the day brings, God will walk by our side. We can live without fear. Let’s do our best to find beauty, listen to the birdsong, read a book, write a letter, dare to walk the beach all bundled up! Let’s all enjoy the season and the day we are given. It is God’s gift to us. Let us Praise Him!
