For their December sustainable development goal of “no poverty,” the Kitty Hawk Elementary School Student Council Association collected over 50 coats to help Community for Kids.
In 2020, Community for Kids was formally established as a 501 c3 charitable organization with a mission to empower Dare County youth to overcome economic obstacles and thrive as individuals. Community for Kids noted that the Kitty Hawk Elementary Student Council exemplifies the vision of Community for Kids, which is to inspire youth to connect with community and feel compelled to give back.
The center’s space is provided by Dare County and appointments to receive clothing can be scheduled on the Community for Kids website, c4kobx.org. Drop points for clothing donations of gently used and new elementary clothing are located at the Southern Shores Police station, Surf Urgent Care in Kill Devil Hills and Kelly’s Auto in Manteo.
More information regarding Community for Kids is available at c4kobx.org.
