Waves, NC – Karen Sue Kraft, 80, of Waves, NC died Thursday, December 29, 2022, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital in Washington, NC.

Born in Big Beaver, PA on September 9, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Marie Freed Kunkle and John Kunkle.

Karen spent her career and retired as a registered nurse in the hospital emergency department. She was a groundskeeper for The Outer Banks Gun Club and more recently a longtime resident of Peak Resources. Karen enjoyed gardening, shooting, crocheting, and dogs. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her granddaughters.

Karen is survived by two daughters, Susan Gray and Pam Thacker (Brian); two granddaughters, Caitlyn and Caroline Gray; a sister, Kerry Williams; friend, Pat Heil; nephew, Nat Williams and family; and niece, Heather Montgomery and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Kraft; and her brother, Kent Kunkle.

The family would like to acknowledge Peak Resources for their loving care during Karen’s time with them.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no service at this time.
