The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) recently held its 25th Annual Charity Surf Fishing Tournament to benefit the association’s disaster relief program held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Twenty-five teams cast their lines at the event and over $6,000 was raised.

“It was a perfect day for fishing, and we did not have to worry about the rain,” said Surf Fishing Chair Aimee Pitts of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage said. “Everyone was generous, had fun, and caught some big fish. I would like to give special thanks to the local businesses and OBAR members that provided raffle prizes for the big day, especially Kellogg Supply for providing fishing buckets for all 25 teams.”

The team Guaranteed Bait with Captain Brendan Medlin took first place and won the top prize of $600. Medlin not only donated the money back to OBAR’s Disaster Relief Fund but matched it. The All You Can Eat with Captain Adam Pitsilidies took second place and won $300. The team OBX Anglers A Team with Captain Stu Baldwin was third and donated their $150 prize back to the Disaster Relief fund. Guaranteed Bait also claimed the largest fish, a 32-inch drum. Medlin donated and matched the winning money to the Disaster Relief fund as well.
