Thanksgiving night fire in Kill Devil Hills causes extensive damage, loss of pets

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department has reported that on November 24, 2022 at 8:50 p.m., fire crews responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1700 block of Sioux St. with fire showing from the roof area.
Fire crews from Colington and Kitty Hawk fire departments also responded to the incident. The Kill Devil Hills Police Department and Dare County EMS were on scene and assisted in the operation.
“The fire was extinguished and there is extensive damage to the structure. Everyone got out of the structure safe,” stated a KDHFD press release. “There were no injuries, however a couple of family pets perished in the fire.”
The Kill Devil Hills Fire Marshal John Risoldi Sr. is investigating to determine the fire’s origin and cause.
