Kitty Hawk taking applications for town council position

The November 6 election of Ervin Bateman to a Dare County Board of Commissioners at-large seat has in turn created a vacancy on the Kitty Hawk Town Council.
Following the lead of its southern municipal neighbor Kill Devil Hills, the Town of Kitty Hawk is now accepting applications from residents interested in being considered to fill that open town council seat.
“Our thought at the moment is to put out feelers kind of like Kill Devil Hills did and ask for candidates,” said Kitty Hawk Mayor Gary Perry during November 5’s regular town council meeting. “That would give us some time to maybe even take action in December.”
The person appointed will fill an unexpired term ending December 2019.
Interested candidates will need to complete an application and submit it to the Kitty Hawk Town Clerk before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 to be considered for the position. Applicants may also include a resume along with their completed application.
Applications are available at the Kitty Hawk Town Hall, 101 Veterans Memorial Drive, Kitty Hawk, NC, online at www.kittyhawknc.gov, obtained by emailing lmorris@kittyhawktown.net, or by calling (252) 261-3552 to have one mailed or for more information.
Applications may be returned by mail to Kitty Hawk Town Hall, P.O. Box 549, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949; or in person at Kitty Hawk Town Hall, 101 Veterans Memorial Drive, Kitty Hawk or via email: lmorris@kittyhawktown.net.
