David A. Clifton, 26, of Columbia, was arrested on Nov. 2. He was charged with the felony of a registered sex offender being within 300 feet of a playground, Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.

Clifton’s arrest for being near the Tyrrell Hall playground in Columbia was the result of a joint investigation by the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office and Community Corrections of the NC Department of Public Safety.

Clifton was released on a $1,200 secured bond. His court date was set for Nov. 6.
