Wreck on NC 94 claims life of Swan Quarter man

At 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, State Highway Trooper C.L. Moore was called to investigate a motor vehicle collision.
The wreck occurred on NC 94 close to State Road 1102 in Tyrrell County.
One death and one injury were reported.
Willie Blount, 39, Swan Quarter, was traveling north on NC 94 in a blue 2005 Kia Sorento.
Christopher Gerth, 30, Creswell, was traveling south on the same two-lane road in a gray 2019 Toyota Tacoma. He suffered minor injuries.
The two vehicles collided in the roadway. Blount died as a result.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Gerth crossed the center line and collided with Blount.
After impact, the Kia went right and turned on its side in a roadside ditch. The Toyota traveled off to its right and came to a rest on the shoulder.
Sgt. J.G. Williams with the State Highway Patrol reported that speed and alcohol were not factors in this collision.
