Melissa Dickerson hired as Manteo town manager

The Manteo Board of Commissioners, by unanimous approval hired, Melissa Dickerson as the town’s new manager at its workshop meeting on February 16, 2022.
Dickerson was appointed as the interim town manager in December of 2021, during which time she has also continued to serve as town planner.
Prior work includes serving as state director for United States Senator Kay Hagan, research assistant for the North Carolina General Assembly and district liaison for Congressman Brad Miller.
Dickerson is a Manteo High School graduate and has a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is also a graduate of the Municipal and County Administration program of the UNC School of Government and is a member of the International City/County Management Association.
“Town Manager Dickerson not only brings a lot of experience to the table, but also valuable knowledge and history of the community as a native of Dare County,” stated a press release from the Town of Manteo. “Throughout her career, she has been and continues to be a dedicated public servant.”
