State basketball playoffs feature local teams

Local teams are seeded in the first round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state basketball playoffs.
Three local teams will host first round games to be played on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Ocracoke girls basketball team, seeded No. 8, will host Triangle Math and Science, seeded at 25. The game will start at 5 p.m. Ocracoke is in the 1A bracket. Ticket price is $7.
Both First Flight basketball teams are slated for action in the first round of the 3A bracket.
First Flight girls are seeded No. 8 and will host Scotland County, No. 25. The game starts at 6 p.m.
First Flight boys basketball team, seeded No. 3, hosts Jacksonville, seeded No. 30. The game starts around 7:30 p.m.
Admission at the First Flight games is $8 because both teams are playing. Otherwise, tickets are $7.
Manteo High School boys team, seeded No. 19 in the tournament, travels to face Greene Central, No. 14. Game time is 6 p.m. Manteo plays in the 2A bracket.
The Manteo girls team, seeded No. 18, travels to meet Fairmont, No. 15. Game time is 6 p.m.
Currituck boys are seeded No. 24 and will travel to meet Terry Sanford, seeded No. 9. Currituck plays in the 3A bracket.
In 1A competition,
– Bear Grass Charter boys are seeded No. 9 and will host Southeast Halifax No. 24 in the first round.
– Cape Hatteras boys are seeded No. 27 and will travel to meet East Wake Academy, No. 6. Game time is 6 p.m.
– Bear Grass Charter girls are seeded No. 23 and will face East Columbus, No. 10.
– Columbia’s girls are seeded No. 29. The Lady Wildcats face Northside-Pinetown, No. 4.
– Cape Hatteras girls are seeded No. 32 and will face Bertie, seed No. 1. Game time is 6 p.m.
