The Elizabeth City Police Department is investigating the shooting death of an Edenton man after a Tuesday night incident.

ECPD has reported that on January 25, 2022 at around 8:46 p.m., officers responded to the area of Walker Ave. near Westway Drive in reference to reported gunshots.

“When officers arrived on scene they located a subject in the roadway with gunshot wounds,” stated a press release from ECPD. “The victim was pronounced deceased upon officer’s arrival.”

The decedent has been identified as Tyrone Deshawn Armstead, 33, of Edenton.

“There is no further information to report at this time,” stated the ECPD release. “This is an active investigation and the Eilzabeth City Police Department urges anyone with information to contact the department at (252) 335-4321 or the Elizabeth City Crime Line at (252) 335-5555. All information will remain anonymous and strictly confidential.”
