Fire crews respond to Wanchese boat fire

Area fire crews were called to the scene of a commercial fishing boat fire in the area of the 4300 block of Mill Landing Road in Wanchese very early Sunday morning.
The Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department reports that at around 12:20 a.m. on January 23, 2022, the department received a dispatch for a boat on fire in Wanchese. Assistant Chief 17 arrived with heavy smoke showing from the boat, stated a release from RIVFD.
Engine companies from Manns Harbor Fire Department and Nags Head Fire Rescue were requested for assistance. Fire attack lines were placed into service and the fire was brought under control.
No injuries were reported. Units remained on scene for approximately three hours.
