Currituck Bulls & BBQ: The return of boots, chaps, cowboy hats and world-class barbecue

Currituck Bulls & BBQ, presented annually by the Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism, returns to the Currituck County Rural Center (CCRC) in Powells Point on Saturday, November 6 from noon until 6 p.m. Enjoy a full day of family fun, including a rodeo, Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition and People’s Choice tasting opportunity, a live musical performance by Manteo Murphy, craft market, mechanical bull riding, cornhole tournament, local food vendors and much more.
The rodeo, a Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association sanctioned event, will feature some of the region’s top bull riders and barrel racers. Rodeo tickets (adults, $15 in advance; kids 12 and under, $10 in advance) are available for purchase until November 5 at the Currituck County Welcome Center in Moyock or via phone at 252-435-2947. Tickets will also be available on November 6 at the CCRC (adults, $20 at gate; kids 12 and under, $15 at gate).
The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbecue and is the world’s largest organization of barbecue and grilling enthusiasts with over 20,000 members and over 500 sanctioned barbecue contests worldwide. More than 30 barbecue teams from across the United States are expected to compete at this event, with prizes being awarded in the following categories: chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket. Tickets for the KCBS People’s Choice barbecue tasting will be available for purchase at the event for $10 per person, with the proceeds benefitting Currituck 4-H Backpack for Kids.
