DCSO: Manteo man facing charges for assaulting deputies

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported that on October 17 at approximately 7 p.m., deputies “working the B-District got out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 64 near Amanda Street, Manteo, NC.”
According to DCSO, while deputies were conducting an investigation for driving while impaired, the driver became combative and assaulted the deputies.
Hunter Lane Garza, 25, of Manteo, was charged with felony assault by strangulation, felony malicious conduct by a prisoner, misdemeanor resist, delay and obstruct an officer in the performance of their duty, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 ounce and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Garza is being held on a $30,000 secured bond, according to DCSO.
