The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, provides support for cancer patients and their families who live on Hatteras Island. Founded in December 2000, the group’s primary goal is to raise funds to offer financial support for patients to help pay for medical costs not reimbursed by insurance and to pay for travel expenses for themselves and their caregivers to medical centers for cancer treatment.
This is this foundation’s second annual virtual run due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. This run is available this weekend from 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8 until 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11.
The cost is $35 per individual. For groups of at least for runners, the charge is $30.
The foundation also offers a fun run that is one mile. The cost for that is $20.
Even though this is a virtual event, the foundation still wants to see everyone’s participation and crazy pink outfits. Tag the foundation on Facebook.
Registration is open until 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 8 at runsignup.com/Race/NC/Anytown/PositivelyPink5K.
