The great horned owl is one of several owl species found on Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Even if you don’t see a great horned owl, you can often hear them by their distinctive classic owl hoot as it echoes through the woods.
Rabbits, squirrels, falcons, hawks, lizards, snakes, mice, bats, voles, frogs and other owls are just a few of the items on this owl’s meal ticket.
“Enjoy your visit to Alligator River Refuge and the other regional national wildlife refuges,” states USFWS.
