John 12:11, For on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
The new plan of the religious leaders was to kill Lazarus as well. Because of Lazarus, his resurrection from the dead, and no doubt because of the testimony he gave about Jesus many people were coming to see Jesus. You see, Lazarus knew it was not about him, it was about Jesus! Lazarus was not telling what he had done, he was telling what had been done for him. He was telling what Jesus had done.
I cannot help but wonder, if the religious leaders would have been that opposed to us? Would they want to or even need put out a hit on us? Would there be enough evidence to convict us of being a follower of Jesus? Do the things we do and say point people to Jesus, or in another direction entirely? Do people wonder if we know Jesus, or do they know where our strength comes from? Just how do people see us?
This is not talking about projecting an image, this is about being changed from the inside out, it is about letting our light shine so that others may see our good deeds and glorify our heavenly father. When we allow Jesus to have control, our lives are changed, not from the outside in, but from the inside out!
Father, help me shine for you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
