Class of 2012 Manteo High School graduate Ashley Grubbs Eason received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University this spring. She graduated cum laude (above 3.5 GPA).
Eason grew up in Nags Head and was involved in Mathletes in high school. “Growing up here is special and truly is a part of who you become; not what you do, but who you are. It’s a part that never leaves no matter how long you’ve been gone. It’s one of my favorite parts about myself and those I love,” Eason said.
Eason is the daughter of Bobby Grubbs of Manteo and Teri Grubbs of Nags Head and granddaughter of Beatrice Robbins of Nags Head.
She plans to complete her Post-Graduate Year One (PGY-1) community residency during the 2021-22 year. Following completion, she hopes to pursue a PGY-2 residency with an ambulatory care focus. “Residency offers so many opportunities and exposure that you may not get elsewhere,” Eason said.
She married John Eason, a firefighter in the Fayetteville area, on April 1, 2020. “It was right after COVID hit. Due to everything going on and all the uncertainty we just went for it. My best friend married us, our families joined us on Zoom, and I had to study immediately following the ceremony. It wasn’t what we had planned, but we laugh about it now and wouldn’t change a thing,” she said.
Eason credits her parents, her “granny” and her Outer Banks community in helping her to pursue her dreams. “They say it takes a village – that’s the truth! There are no words to express how thankful and blessed I have been. I hope one day I am able to give back at least a fraction of what this community has given to me over the years.”
