Using a set of his own numbers, Tobias Wooten of Kinston tried his luck on a Cash 5 ticket and hit a $100,000 jackpot, according to a press release from the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Wooten purchased his winning ticket for the May 4 drawing from the Murphy Express on West Vernon Avenue in Kinston.
He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Wooten took home $70,751.
“When I can, I’m going to take a nice vacation,” said Wooten of his plans for the prize money.
