Dare County Animal Shelter has new hours

The new Dare County Animal Shelter has new open hours.

The Adoption Center is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays.

The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility is closed on Mondays.

The new shelter address is 378 Airport Road, Manteo. The facility is across from the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island and between the Dare County Regional Airport and the county’s Emergency Operations Center.

In front of the new shelter is a dog park.

The shelter is staffed and managed by the Outer Banks SPCA under contract with Dare County.

On April 19, the county’s commissioners changed the contract approving the new hours.
