College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Performing Arts Center in Elizabeth City is welcoming patrons back with the first in-person performance of the year, “Always a Bridesmaid.” There will be four performances held: April 23 at 7 p.m., April 24 at 2 and 7 p.m., and April 25 at 2 p.m. Video on-demand tickets will also be available for those prefer to catch the show from the comfort of their home.

There will be a number of measures in place to ensure the safety of patrons attending the in-person productions in the Performing Arts Center, according to a press release from COA. There will be limited seating for each show and staff members will be on hand to seat the audience upon arrival in an effort to maintain adequate social distancing. Family groups who live in the same household will be seated together. The auditorium and lobby will be sanitized following each performance and hand sanitizer stations will be placed at all entrances into the building as well as restrooms. There will be no concessions available and water fountains are closed. Masks are required in all buildings at COA and outside where social distancing cannot be maintained. Disposable masks will be provided for those who do not have one.

The Performing Arts Center is also offering a viewing party package for an additional $25. The package includes items that are mentioned throughout the show, giving patrons an opportunity to enhance the performance experience in-person or at home.

“Sometimes you just need a laugh, and after the year we have all had, I would say there has never been a better time and a greater need,” said Mariah Schierer, manager of the Performing Arts Center. “We couldn’t be happier to open our doors to live audiences again, and this light-hearted comedy is just the laugh we have all been waiting for.”
