Corridor in place to access Cape Point due to oystercatcher breeding

On Monday, April 5, 2021, Cape Hatteras National Seashore staffers installed an off-road vehicle corridor south of Ramp 44 due to American oystercatcher breeding activity.

The corridor starts about a quarter of a mile south of the ramp.

Beach drivers will need to use the corridor to access Cape Point. Once inside the corridor, beach drivers must continue moving until reaching the open area of Cape Point. The breeding activity will be monitored and the area will be adjusted as needed.
