OBX kitesurfer named to Youth Olympics team

Outer Banks kitesurfer Cameron Maramenides, 16, will represent the United States in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires Oct. 6-18, US Sailing announced this week.
Cameron is competing with the 2018 U.S. Youth Olympic Sailing Team. Held every four years, 2018 will mark the third edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, which are expected to include nearly 4,000 athletes from more than 200 nations. The sailing events are expected to include more than 100 athletes aged 15-18.
Cameron grew up in Nags Head and is the son of well-known kiteboarder Dimitri Maramenides. Both have been in Florida for Olympics training and are currently in Buenos Aires.
