Retiring town clerk Becky Breiholz administered the oath of office to Jamie Carol McClease Whitley, who began her appointment as the next Manteo town clerk on January 1.

Whitley, a native of Manteo, has a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Wesleyan with majors in political science, criminal justice and sociology with extensive training through UNC-Chapel Hill and its School of Government.

She has been serving as deputy town clerk of Manteo since September of this year.
