The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office has reported that on December 3, 2020 at around 12:02 a.m., CCSO took over a pursuit that started in Southern Shores. Stop sticks were deployed in front of the Weeping Radish restaurant in Grandy. The suspect’s vehicle struck the sticks and pulled into the Shell gas station.

“Suspects now identified as Zachery Marion and Chynna Thompson did not adhere to the commands to exit the vehicle as the officers approached,” stated a release from CCSO. “A deputy attempted to assist the driver, Marion, out the vehicle. Marion then drove off.”

CCSO reported the vehicle fled northbound on Hwy. 158 and that deputies were able to stop the vehicle after a short low speed pursuit due to blown tires.

Deputies found drug paraphernalia and what is suspected to be narcotics in the vehicle, according to CCSO. Marion was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer; possession of drug paraphernalia; flee to elude; and carless and reckless driving with possible future charges of assault. Thompson was charged with possession of paraphernalia.

Both are held in the Currituck Detention Center, Marion under a $16,000 bond and Thompson under a $10,000 bond, according to CCSO.
