Superintendent John Farrelly notified Dare County Schools families early Wednesday evening, November 11 that COVID-19 cases have been reported at four schools: one at Kitty Hawk Elementary School, one at First Flight Elementary School, three at Manteo Elementary School and two at First Flight Middle School.

“Upon initiation of contact tracing, the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services has identified over two-hundred (200) direct contacts in these schools who will begin quarantining immediately following NC Department of Health and Human Services guidelines,” stated Farrelly.

KHES, FFES, MES and FFMS are closed Thursday, November 12 for cleaning and sanitization.

FFMS will also be closed Friday, November 13 due to staffing issues related to quarantined teachers. “Ten (10) additional staff members have to be quarantined based on today’s confirmed cases,” stated Farrelly’s Wednesday message. “Thus, it will be impossible to effectively staff the school before Monday. FFMS will reopen on Monday, November 16.”
