Letter: Reader offers scripture retort to AG Sessions

Recently Attorney General Jeff Sessions appealed to the scripture of Romans 13:1 (Be subject to the authorities) telling Americans how they should view certain decisions of President Trump concerning separation of children from their parents.
I offer certain scriptures I believe more appropriate to the discussion.
Jesus’ words, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40
The Golden rule: “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12
“You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” Exodus 22:21
And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy each to his brother (and sister), do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.”
Zechariah 7:8-10
