Local and state COVID-19 case count update

The cumulative number of positive COVID-19 tests in Dare County is 560, of which 22 are active cases among residents of Dare County. Of the 560 cases, 303 are residents and 257 are non-residents.
As of Friday afternoon, one resident remains hospitalized from complications associated with COVID-19. One non-resident is isolating in Dare County.
Since the last Dare County Department of Health and Human Services update issued Tuesday, Sept. 29, 13 new positive cases have been added to the total. Of these 13 cases, eight are residents and five are non-residents.
“We have been fortunate in Dare County for nearly the past two months to have relatively low numbers of new cases, however just this week we have started to see a slight uptick in cases,” reports the update.
Practicing general wellness can help improve an individual’s likelihood of preventing or recovering from illness due to COVID-19, according to DCDHHS.
Mental health resources available in the community vary from counseling to economic assistance to telemedicine.
Dare’s COVID-19 emotional support line is free, confidential and available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 252-473-8216.

Hyde County Health Department is reporting a cumulative case count of 130. Of those cases, three are active positive cases. Some 122 have recovered from the coronavirus. Five Hyde residents have died due to COVID-19.
Albemarle Regional Health Services provided the following COVID-19 case information for several of the counties it serves:
Pasquotank County: 724 lab-confirmed cases of which 81 are active. Some 33 deaths have been recorded in the county.
Camden County: 118 lab confirmed cases of which 12 are active. Three deaths have been recorded in the county.
Currituck County: 188 lab-confirmed cases, of which 19 are active. Three deaths have been recorded in the county.
According to Martin-Tyrrell-Washington District Health, in Tyrrell County as of October 2, the total number of confirmed cases is steady at 117 with 114 recoveries and three deaths.
At the state level, 214,684 cases are lab-confirmed. On Oct. 2, an additional 1,775 cases were reported. Some 921 North Carolinians are hospitalized with coronavirus. Sadly, 3,608 deaths have been recorded.
