The Edenton Chowan Partnership made the commitment to support the Truck Diving Program at College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Edenton Chowan Campus by making an annual donation of $2,000.
“The Edenton-Chowan Partnership is proud to support COA, especially when it comes to workforce development programs,” noted Liza Layton, Edenton Chowan Partnership executive director. “We know the key to strong businesses and economic growth is in ensuring there are educational opportunities readily available in our own community. We are excited for this partnership with COA, the truck driving program, and all that is to come.”
The first two years the money will go towards the program support fund and awarded out in scholarships to students in the program thereafter. This commitment is one that gives our area the opportunity to grow by fulfilling a much-needed demand in our area for CDL drivers throughout several industries.
COA President Jack Bagwell added, “College of The Albemarle students and the Edenton-Chowan community have benefitted from the work of the Edenton-Chowan Partnership. The partnership’s commitment to the economic development of the region will pay dividends for years to come.”
Several board members who serve on the Edenton Chowan Partnership have supported the program by spreading the word to community members and have been instrumental in getting community buy in, stated COA in a press release.
The program is taking registrations now; interested students can enroll by contacting the Workforce Development and Continuing Education department at 252-335- 0821 ext. 2250.
