Community members have been rallying to help each other out since a tornado from Isaias tore through Bertie County earlier this month. Askewville resident David White is one of those individuals raising funds for those affected by the storm.

White has been making and selling t-shirts and face masks with 50% of proceeds going to those affected.

“I had decided I wanted to do something to help raise money for the tornado victims of Bertie county,” he said. “I’m making Bertie Strong shirts, and starting to make Bertie Strong masks. 50% of the money I make is going to the victims of Bertie County from the tornado that recently approached.”

White is donating funds raised to Cedar Landing Missionary Baptist Church in Windsor. To order a Bertie Strong shirt or mask, contact White via text at 252-484-5062.

The U.S. Small Business Administration recently granted Gov. Roy Cooper’s request for a disaster declaration for small businesses and homeowners facing damage from the tornado.
