North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation M-12-2020 reduces the yardage limit for gill nets in Management Unit B to 800 yards, which now coincides with the yardage limit in Management Units C, D1, D2 and E.

The intent of this proclamation is to implement attendance restrictions for gill nets with a stretched mesh length less than 5 inches, and yardage and time setting restrictions for the management of gill nets with a stretched mesh length less than 4 inches in the Internal Coastal Waters of the state, south of Management Unit A. The yardage limit decrease in Management Unit B are implemented to coincide with the 500-pound daily trip limit in the commercial Spanish mackerel fishery.

Fixed or stationary gill net sets must be fished at least once each day between sunrise and 12:01 p.m.

The proclamation became effective at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
