Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. – 2 Cor. 1:3-4 ESV

It’s draining. Even stifling at times. The summer heat can be oppressive with no relief in sight. It is, however, the natural order of things. When winter comes, we will be complaining probably of the cold and wishing to trade it all for a hot summers’ day! My backyard critters need a break so they get a little water and some peanuts from me so they don’t have to work so hard for their food. It appears a whole community of squirrels has now gotten the news and are waiting for me each morning for their handout. The birds aren’t singing as much in this heat, but they are appreciative of the variety of seed we offer and the summer heat has done nothing to dull the color of their brilliant feathers. And everyone is getting along in harmony. We must consider ourselves very blessed. The sun provides life and light to us no matter how high our thermometers register. Gardens are flourishing with harvest now, as are cutting flowers in full bloom. Sprinklers are going early in the day to give lawns a nourishing drink.

We are rich in God’s blessings if we choose to see them. Is everything beautiful and perfect? No. But we have been given the eyes to see beauty if our heart allows us to. God delivers, He hears us, He wants to guide and comfort us. Whatever the situation is, whatever problem or challenge we are facing, He is the answer. He can change our mindset from complaining to rejoicing and being grateful. When it is hot, we should be glad most of us has a cool place we can go. If we are thirsty, many of us can access a cool drink. It’s the little things. It starts with us. Finding joy in all things.  Always be full of joy. Never stop praying. Whatever happens, always be thankful. This is how God wants you to live in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
