Tyler Davis McKeithan was sworn in as the newest attorney at Kellogg & Evans on Tuesday, July 7.

McKeithan, 38, grew up in Jacksonville before moving to Wilmington. After finishing his biology undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University, he began to work for the health department in Boone, where he lived for 16 years with his wife, Kimberly.

“I left the health department to start two businesses,” McKeithan told The Coastland Times. After selling both businesses, McKeithan realized his two main interests were real estate and law.

“I’ve always been interested in real estate and I’ve always been interested in law, so this was a perfect opportunity to go to law school,” he said.

After receiving a scholarship to North Carolina Central University School of Law, McKeithan graduated magna cum laude in May of 2019 and passed his bar exam that summer.

McKeithan said while job hunting, he would regularly check local newspapers. He came across an ad for a legal assistant at Kellogg & Evans PA in Manteo and sent Charles Evans an email.

“It was a shot in the dark, really,” McKeithan admitted. After inquiring about an associate attorney position rather than a legal assistant, Evans and McKeithan began emailing back and forth before meeting in person for an interview.

“We got along great and then he offered me the position,” McKeithan said.

“I am very pleased that Tyler has an interest in working for me and for Kellogg & Evans,” Evans shared. “He has promise as an attorney and I am thrilled to death that he’s here.”

Evans said he was very impressed with McKeithan’s accomplishments and shared interests in both the real estate field and law. “I think he’s going to be an excellent attorney.”
