Downtown Books in Manteo will feature three local authors for two socially distanced book signings this Friday, July 3.
From 10-11:30 a.m., Suzanne Tate will be signing books and meeting the fans of her best-selling Children’s Nature Series. Tate’s latest book, Tommy Tuna: Tale of a Big Fish, was the 40th book in the series and was awarded first place in the National Federation of Press Women 2020 Communication Contest. It features many facts about the life and conservation of bluefin tuna as well as some local history of bluefin fishing.
Joseph Terrell will be there from noon-2 p.m. with his latest Harrison Weaver mystery, Calling Card of Death. This is the eighth book in Terrell’s series, which features many of Outer Banks settings and backdrops, but also takes the reader “across the pond” to Paris.
Local writer Greg Smrdel will join Terrell. Smrdel has penned a number of books, including novels and fun romps set on the Outer Banks such as Home, Sweet Outer Banks, Home and Pierly, as well as trivia books featuring the Andy Griffith Show and the Outer Banks’s own morning man Ray Turner. Smrdel is also the founder of Radio Free Outer Banks.
All book signing attendees must wear masks, sanitize their hands and maintain proper social distancing. For more information, call 252-473-1056 or visit manteoreads. com. Downtown Books is an independent bookstore located at 103 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in downtown Manteo.
