Curbside pick-up at Dare County Library branches is now available by appointment.
Library customers can request materials for curbside pick-up over the phone or by using their online catalog. When requested materials arrive, library staff will make contact to arrange a convenient time to come and get them using no contact curbside pick-up.
To request materials by phone, call the appropriate library branch and request particular titles, authors, genres or subjects. Request children’s materials by age or reading interest or level.
To request materials online, visit earlibrary.org.
A hold may be placed to request any item, however materials may be procured much faster if they are “Available” and are owned by the requester’s “home” library rather than a different branch. See detailed instructions on how to place a hold at darenc.com/library.
A courier will be running between library locations, however following CDC guidance, library staff will be “quarantining” materials between users for more than 72 hours. At this time, only outdoor book drops at the three libraries are open. Customers are asked not to place any donated books in these drops at this time.
The Dare County Libraries also offer a full array of digital content including thousands of eBooks for all ages available at darenc.com/virtuallibrary.
Although libraries are currently closed to the public, staff are always available weekdays to assist or answer any questions.
For more information, call the Manteo branch at 252-473-2372, Hatteras branch at 252-986-2385 or Kill Devil Hills branch at 252-441-4331.
