Matthew Robert Halbert

Matthew Robert Halbert, 28, died suddenly on April 9, 2020 at Sentara Albemarle Hospital. Matthew was kind-hearted and was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a hard worker and notably served in Americorps for ten months, during which he earned his high school diploma and completed community service projects along the west coast. He was a past member of the Newland Volunteer Fire Department. As a beautiful final gesture, Matthew carried out his wish of donating his organs to transplant patients.

Matthew is survived by parents Robert and Theresa Halbert; sisters Heather H. Reese and husband Todd and Breanne Halbert; and niece Mabel.
