The national March for Meals campaign is a month-long event that occurs annually in March. It is designed to bring about public awareness of senior hunger and isolation and to celebrate the services provided by senior nutrition programs.
On Mar. 9, Trey Lewis, regional representative of U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis, was in Tyrrell County to help with the home-delivered meals. Lewis was able to see first-hand the importance of this program. It’s not just a meal that one is delivering, but the giving of their time. It’s hard to say who enjoyed the day more, Lewis or the meal recipients!
If you, or someone you know, would like to volunteer, or if you know of a homebound senior 60 years or older that may be in need of home-delivered meals, call 252-796-0365 or 252-426-5753 for more information.
