Manteo Elementary School’s Principal Steve Blackstock submitted his resignation on Friday, Nov. 22. According to Keith Parker of Dare County Schools, Blackstock will serve as principal until Jan. 21, 2020.
“Our goal is to name the new principal as soon as possible when we find the right person,” Parker said. The hope is to have the position filled before Blackstock leaves in January.
DCS Superintendent Dr. John Farrelly has instructed the human resources department to post a vacancy on the school system’s website. “Dr. Farrelly is also planning to speak with Manteo staff and parents and solicit their input in the selection of the new principal,” Parker stated.
After acquiring applications, the school board will hold interviews and choose a qualified candidate for the position. To view the position online, visit https://nc.teachermatch.org/jobsboard.do?districtId=569409935.
