This month, sites in the Manteo area will be among 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, Nov. 18 through 25.

The Samaritan’s Purse project partners with local churches across the globe to deliver these tangible expressions of God’s love to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine. For many of these children, it will be the first gift they have ever received.

The Manteo area collection site is located at the Manteo Baptist Church, 406 N US Highway 64. Collection hours are scheduled on Mon., Nov. 18; Tues., Nov. 19 and Wed., Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Thurs., Nov. 21, Fri., Nov. 22; Sat., Nov. 23 from 10 a.m.-noon; Fri., Nov. 22: 5-7 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 23 from 4-6 p.m.; Sun, Nov. 24 from 1-4 p.m. and Mon., Nov. 25 from 5:30-7:30 a.m.
