Sea Grant offers N.C. Marine Fisheries Management class for fishermen

North Carolina Sea Grant has announced a new program to take place on Tuesdays from Nov. 26 through Dec. 10. This Introductory NC Marine Fisheries Management for Fishermen course provides an overview of the process of North Carolina’s marine fisheries management.

This course is open to the public and will be held at the Center for Marine Sciences and Technology, located on the second floor of the center, or via webinar. It is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Topics of interest include History of NC Marine Fisheries Management, Fisheries Management Today and Fisheries Management Challenges and Opportunities. Speakers include Scott Barker and Sara Mirabilio from North Carolina Sea Grant, Steve Murphy, Kathy Rawls, Steve Poland, and Mike Street from N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries, and others representing commercial, recreational, and scientific perspectives on state management.
