Room in the Inn is dedicated to serving those who are homeless in Dare County.

Participating churches provide safe places to spend the night and a hot dinner and breakfast and a bag lunch.

In 2019, the program will open Sunday, Nov. 17 and close mid-April.

Room in the Inn has published a needs list for its clients: hats (stocking caps), gloves and socks for men and women, backpacks, hand warmers, laundry detergent, small size toiletries such as shampoo/conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, disposable razors and shaving cream. No toothbrushes are needed at this time.

Room in the Inn is not in a position to accept donations of coats or other clothing or shoes due to space limitations. The organization recommends these items be donated to Dare Challenge Thrift Store, which, in turn, provides these items free of charge to clients of Room in the Inn.

The address for the Dare Challenge Thrift Shop is 500 S. Croatan Hwy. in Kill Devil Hills.

Room in the Inn headquarters is located behind the Kill Devil Hills Post Office. The phone number is 252-255-1133.

For this winter season, the organization has a few weeks open for host churches. Consider volunteering for hosting or teaming up with another church to jointly provide a week of service to the homeless. Inquiries may be sent to obxroomintheinn@gmail.com.

Monetary donations to Room in the Inn should be mailed to P.O. Box 1135, Manteo, NC 27954.
