Richard L. Rosser, 75, of Stumpy Point, died October 3, 2019 in Ashville. Born in Collegeville, PA on June 26, 1944 Richard was the son of the late Edward and Charlotte Rosser.
Pop’s or Pappy, as he was lovingly known by family and friends, was a welder by trade, but could diagnose and repair a vehicle just by the sound it made. He served our country with honor through three Vietnam deployments – totaling twelve years in the Navy.
Richard is survived by his former wife and best friend, Lori Rosser; his step-sons, Ian Stitt; and Gabe Stitt (Kiandre) and his grandchildren, Sadie Stitt, Shyanne Stitt, Kabria Stitt, and Cole Harris. Also surviving are five sons from his first marriage, William Rosser, Jeremy Rosser, Jonathan Rosser, James Rosser, and Daniel Rosser, all of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Gwendolyn Errington (Harry) of California, MD and Diana MacFarland (Robert) of Ellenton, FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Pop’s was preceded in death by a stepson, Randy Stitt and two brothers; Edward Rosser Jr., and Alfred Rosser.
A memorial service with the Military Color Guard will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Stumpy Point Community Center. Friends may share light refreshments following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s name may be made to the Outer Banks SPCA.
