Theodore Stockton Midgett

Theodore Stockton Midgett, 91, of Hatteras, died October 13, 2019, at Peak Resources – Outer Banks.

A native of Dare County, he was born July 4, 1928, to the late Ersie Midgett and Theodore Stockton Midgett.

As a child, Stocky was raised in Fair Haven United Methodist Church. He later became a member of Hatteras United Methodist Church, a Shriner and a past master of Cape Hatteras Lodge #698 AF & AM. Stocky was the co-founder of family businesses, Midgett Bros Inc and Midgett Realty, among others.

Stocky is survived by his wife Elizabeth Austin Midgett; sons Ted Midgett and wife Beth, Tim Midgett and wife Trisha, Richie Midgett and partner Cheryl Warren; daughter Libby Ann Snearer and partner Elwood Everett; thirteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Joyce Rucker and brothers Harold and Anderson Midgett.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on October 18 at Hatteras United Methodist Church with Rev. Toni Wood officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service at Hatteras Marlin Club. Private burial will take place at Oden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Outer Banks Community Foundation to benefit storm-stricken residents of Hatteras or Ocracoke Island (13 Skyline Road, Southern Shores, NC 27949 or online at www.obcf.org) or Hatteras United Methodist Church Building Fund (PO Box 310, Hatteras, NC 27943).
