Nancy Ann Laws Swaim

Kill Devil Hills – Nancy A. Laws Swaim of Kill Devil Hills, NC passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 after a brief yet courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 60.

Born and raised in Wilkesboro, NC, Nancy was the daughter of the late George Laws and Mozelle Laws. In her youth, Nancy worked hard on the family farm and developed a passion for bluegrass music. Eventually she met and married a young Ronnie Swaim and the two travelled the country as long distance truck drivers. Ronnie and Nancy pursued their mutual love of music and moved to the Outer Banks over 32 years ago. Here, they opened and ran the Outer Banks Jubilee Theater in Kitty Hawk, NC for many years.

In recent years Nancy and Ronnie kept busy at the family music store in Kill Devil Hills, NC – Jubilee Music. She also participated in the development of the first Outer Banks Blue Grass Festival and regularly attended Still Water Baptist Church.

Nancy’s survivors include her husband of over 40 years, Ronnie of the Kill Devil Hills residence; her son, Johnny Swaim of Charlottesville, VA; her grandson, Dawson Swaim also of Kill Devil Hills; her mother, Mozelle Laws of Wilkesboro, NC; her sister, Peggy Laws of Nags Head, NC; as well as her in-laws, extended family members, friends, customers, and the local blue grass community.
