The Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office has charged two Raleigh residents with four felony counts each after an incident at the Tyrrell Prison Work Farm early Sunday morning, Oct. 6, Sheriff Kevin Sawyer reports.

Darius Williams, 44, and Isaac Alexander Wilson, 28, both of Raleigh, have been charged with conspiracy to provide cell phones to an inmate, providing cell phones to inmate, providing tobacco to inmate and providing alcohol to inmate. Each charge is a felony.

“During the early morning hours of Sunday, October 6, an alert Correctional Officer observed an individual attempting to place a bag inside the fence line of the Tyrrell County Work Farm,” the sheriff stated in a press release. “The individual was seen running back to a vehicle. The officer alerted additional staff, and an Officer was able to follow the vehicle,” Sheriff Sawyer stated.

Officers with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Plymouth Police Department located the vehicle on U.S. Hwy 64 in Plymouth and the suspects were turned over to Tyrrell authorities.

Seized were 10 bottles of vodka, two cell phones, 1.55 pounds of tobacco and six tubes of Super Glue, the sheriff reported.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said Monday the two individuals were being held in the Dare County Detention Center. They are scheduled to have a first appearance hearing on Oct. 9.
