Spring Arbor to evacuate residents today

Spring Arbor of the Outer Banks will evacuate its residents today. With a mandatory hurricane evacuation underway, a spokesperson says the senior living facility will provide evacuation transportation for its residents beginning at 2 p.m. this afternoon, Tuesday, September 3.

Buses and vans will be used to transport 70 residents of its community to the Spring Arbor of Williamsburg, Va. assisted care facility. Another ten residents opted to evacuate with family. The spokesperson said volunteer staff would accompany the residents on the trip. Other staff members will remain at the Outer Banks facility awaiting the residents’ return after the storm threat is over.

The spokesperson said, “it’s quite an undertaking.”
