Janelle Haywood Perry, 83, of Kitty Hawk, died August 29, 2019, at Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, Va.

A native of Colington, she was born April 9, 1936, to the late Clara Perry Haywood and Ernest L. Haywood.

A longtime member of Liberty Christian Fellowship and current member of Lighthouse Church, Janelle placed upmost importance on her church family. She loved walking especially on Kitty Hawk Woods Road and also enjoyed gardening.

Janelle is survived by daughter Sharon Perry Saunders (Skip Saunders) of Kitty Hawk; grandchildren Haley Sullivan (Judd Snapp) of Kitty Hawk and Owen Perry Sullivan (Jenna Gwaltney) of Manteo; two great-grandchildren and sister Barbara Duvall (Bob Duvall) of Kill Devil Hills.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Pernell Jacklin Perry and brother Gaskill Austin.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on September 6 at Twiford Colony Chapel, 500 Budleigh Street in Manteo with Pastor Chris Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place at Austin Cemetery in Kitty Hawk.
