The Dare County Friends of Youth mentoring program has named Lee’s Lil Shorebreakers as their Sponsor of the Month for August.

The non-profit organization, started in Virginia Beach in 2012 by Jean and Brian Brackins in honor of their son Lee who was killed in a surfing accident, seeks to teach at-risk young people how to surf. Local surfers Jamie LaVier, Brent Nultemeir and Beau Spivey created an Outer Banks chapter in 2013.

The three day action packed camp is made possible thanks to the hard work of dozens of volunteers including local surfers, as well as businesses and civic organization who provide donations to help out.
